Attitude Problem!!!

I'm damn pissed off with someone today!!!

Just because this person is a HR specialist doesn't mean she can speak with bad attitude and lectured arrogantly at someone who is more senior in her family generation. This is so utterly disrespectful...

Since she claimed that her job agency is always so busy and even asked me to look for jobs through other sources, fine then, I'll do that rather than having to bother these busy and "stuck-up" people...

Feeling so humiliated right now!!!

A Marvellous Journey Afterall !!!

After 1 year 8 months & 16 days of hard work and effort, I'm finally an university graduate... I couldn't sleep at all last night, waited anxiously for the release of my final exam result this morning. The wait was indeed worthwhile when I saw my academic history in my student database indicating the status as "Completed", and knew for once that the victory had been striven...

The complete exam result were displayed a moment later, where I saw myself getting high passes in both Auditing and Computerised Accounting Systems... I'm just more than happy with the outcome especially after suffering from all sought of stress & tension during the exam period. My tiredness due to the sleepless night, however, managed to cover all the emotion I had and I was therefore able to hold back my tears of joy...

The delight continued with the 红星大奖 (Star Awards 2005) broadcast on channel 8 earlier... Many of my favourite artistes won in the awards they were nominated which include Yvonne Lim (Best Supporting Actress), Quan Yifeng (Best Variety Programme Host), Michelle Chia (Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes), Bryan Wong (Best Comedy Performer & Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes) and Jesseca Liu (Most Popular Newcomer) to name a few... I share my joyful feeling with them as every single moment of achievement is really reflected by the hard work that was being put in...

With the end of this marvellous journey, I'll be starting the next phase of my life by looking for a suitable job over the next few weeks. Once again it's not going to be an easy process, but hopefully that continual determination will be what it takes to mark the success...

What's The Big Deal???

Back in Singapore last Thursday, and for good this time... Can't really believed that two years had gone just like that. Once again, I was having so much mixed feeling upon leaving Brisbane; just can't help it anyway. But meanwhile, I hope to meet up with my "kakis" soon, and to look for a job subsequently. The only hurdle is the fear on the release of my final exam result next week, which is something that I don't wish to think about right now as I just want to relax and enjoy my holiday as much as possible...

*****

I had an arguement with my 2nd sister earlier on, and I'm mad with her as well as my niece (daughter of my 1st sister)... The story actually goes this way: My niece is now working at a job agency. After having dinner at Bishan Junction 8 last night, she asked me to send her my resume but indicated not to scan my academic result into my resume. I told her that I'd already converted my academic result into word document which is pasted together with my resume, but apparently she doesn't really understand what I meant. Subsequently I showed the actual thing to her when we got home. Prior to that, my niece told me that her boyfriend is planning to study at the university I attended next year. So I told her to ask her boyfriend to go through the education agency that provided me with all the necessary application and services. My niece then called her boyfriend and asked me to speak to him about it. But don't know what happened that the background was so noisy while speaking to her boyfriend that he couldn't hear what I was saying. So I then told my niece that I'll pass her the necessary details to be passed to her boyfriend...

Then later this afternoon, my 2nd sister told me that my niece whinged about me being impatient by interrupting her before she could finish telling me about the resume thingy, and criticised that I have attitude problem that will cause difficulties for me to find a job. My 2nd sister also told me that my niece's boyfriend claimed that I was slurring while talking to him over the phone, and my niece told him that I always speak this way or probably I have spoken too much Aussie accent that he couldn't understand. The fact is if my niece's boyfriend really couldn't hear what I said over the phone, how could he possibly tell that I was slurring? Anyway, I know my 2nd sister well that sometimes what she gossiped about is only partly true because she normally didn't get the whole story across. So I then told my sister that if that's really the case, then I won't get involved with anything regarding my niece in future. But instead of stopping the conversation, she continued to criticise that I couldn't take criticism. During the conversation, my laptop gone "crazy" at the same time by shutting down automatically, and despite switching on and on again several times the stupid laptop just shut down before even loading windows. I was so pissed that I told my sister to shut up as she's always not getting the real story and simply just like to gossip around and I refused to speak to her after that. Subsequently, she left the house to run some errand and I had to tell my mom what's going on in order to let go of all my frustration. Thank God that my mom is understanding about the situation and she managed to calm me down.

By the way if what my 2nd sister said is true, then I won't bother to send my resume to my niece in helping me to find a job. In fact no one actually likes to find a job through job agency given the fact that your montly salary will be lesser than expected due to agency's commissions. My niece may thinks that her job is very "high class", but for me I really won't give a damn about it...

~~ Mood Swing ~~

I'm having sleeping disorder again... Why does it always happen during exam period??? +o(

I only have 2 exam papers this time round but it just seems like there's so much stuff to study for!!! :S

Feeling so much of anxiety and uncertainty. Really can't wait for this dreadful exam period to be over soon... 8oI

Relax Mode

Took a break from study and watch the movie "Must Love Dogs" yesterday... It was such a funny and romantic comedy. The movie was shown in the smallest cinema at the South Bank cineplex, but at the same time there wasn't much crowd at all (probably because the movie has been showing for quite awhile), and so it was really an ideal moment to watch the show...

As for the storyline, yeah, I like it. I feel that this is one of the better romance comedies I've watched over the years... Also to mention that Diane Lane simply looks stunning in the movie. Hopefully she can get nominated for the best actress in a comedy role at the coming Golden Globe Awards...

Birthday Greetings :)

I was so happy to receive so many birthday greetings yesterday, from friends in Brisbane as well as friends back in Singapore. Many of them actually remember my birthday through alert in Friendster, hi5 and Ringo.

Here are just some of the greetings I got:

Justin (Friendster's message)
Phelicia (MSN)
Cammy (MSN)
Edward (MSN)
Patrick (Phone)

Kezia (SMS)
Wenchao (Email)

Thank you guys & gals. All your little thought really mean so much to me...

Also like to thank my neighbour Robin for giving me the only birthday present I got so far - the "So Fresh" compilation CD which contained many songs that I wanted. Thank you Robin, for making my wish comes true...

Amazing Score

This is unbelievable... I had nailed my auditing presentation with 10 out of 10, and my tutor told me that I was the only one in class to get such score so far. This is my second perfect score for an assignment this semester (got 5 out of 5 for my Access assignment) and it's really fantastic. Hopefully such amazing performances can sustain me to a happy completion of my entire degree course...

*****

I love the hainanese chicken rice at the Cantonese restaurant in the city... It makes me feel like I'm having the same kind of hainanese chicken rice back in Singapore. I used to like roast chicken rice better in the past but I may have to change my perception now. I guess this is a fine example showing that people can easily take things for granted, i.e. missing what they don't have and complaining over what they have...

Acceptance or Rejection

I don't actually know whether I should blog; I was kind of feeling down since returning from Melbourne... Didn't really enjoy the whole trip; always not getting enough sleep at night as my friend wanted to visit the casino, so ending up that we always woke up late in the afternoon. My friend even insist at one point that we should change our return flight timing to the evening so that we can spend more time going to other places, which will spend us an additional 60 bucks per person. Honestly I wouldn't want to spend such money just to stay for another 4 to 5 hours in Melbourne. We later decided to follow the original plan and returned to Brisbane on Thursday afternoon. I was so happy the moment I arrived back in Brisbane, feeling so much better with its pace and the lesser crowd as compared to Melbourne which is so crowded and bizarre...

During the trip, my friend also coincidently told me about two incidents he had in the past that kind of affected me in one way or another... I can't reveal the details of the incidents, but it does explain why "a book cannot be judged by its cover". Though the incidents happened 5 to 6 years ago before I even knew my friend, somehow I just couldn't seem to accept the fact; and because my friend is also fond of betting and gambling, I was actually reminded of a classmate in poly who was pretty much in a similar position before. Right now except for group outing, I don't really feel like going out with my friend alone. Perhaps I'm being too judgemental about the whole thing, but I really feel that sometimes it's better to let certain things fade away rather than being reminded of unhappy memories or letting history repeating again...

Spring Carnival

I'm so happy that I'm done with my auditing presentation this afternoon... The topic I presented was on computerised auditing software which is my favourite topic. Everything goes pretty well except for a few minor mistakes as commented by my tutor. So hopefully I would be able to nail this presentation with at least 9 out of 10%...

*****

My final exam timetable is out today... Auditing would be first, following by computerised accounting system 8 days later. This would mean that I'll have more time to focus on revising for auditing which is a much tougher subject. It'll also be the crucial final moment to justify all the effort that I've been putting in over these two years...

*****

Being the Spring holiday break next week, I'll be heading to Melbourne for a 4 days trip with my friend... Really looking forward to the trip as the last time I only managed to stop by at Melbourne for a short break. This time round I really want to take the chance to explore around the city, and also not forgetting about my favourite past time - shopping!

*****

I was suddenly brought back with memories about my poly days over the week, and now I'm starting to miss the KTV and mahjong sessions... Got to wait for at least another two months for that but somehow my hands and mouth already seem to be getting "itchy" :D ...

Hoping to meet Justin & Shihui for BBQ buffet at Seoul Garden too...

Special Offer !!!

Just bought 2 Nike T-shirts for $50 at the Foot Locker (a sports store equivalent to the Royal Sporting House in Singapore) earlier. It's a pretty good deal as each T-shirt costs $30 originally. I intend to give one of them as birthday present to my friend who is celebrating his birthday this Friday, and I think that's really "两全其美"...

*****

Nowadays I seem to feel bored quite easily. I think it's because I'm left with only 2 subjects to complete this semester and therefore become "super" relax. Plus the slow pace of life here it can really make things even worse. This could also be a sign telling me that I'm not a laid back person afterall. Probably I should just go back to where I belong after my studies, something that I'm still pondering about...

What The .... !!!

My migraine problem started again today, and "thanks" to my inconsiderate neighbour for that... I slept only at 5 am this morning after revising for my computerised accounting exam which is on this sat. At 8.30 am I was awaken by the quivering door slamming sound caused by my neighbour and I couldn't sleep after that. Though later on I managed to resume my sleep at 1 pm and woke up at 4 pm, the migraine pain continued to remain in me before it finally died off an hour ago after my friend and I went downstairs to catch some fresh air...

Well, I think enough is enough! I'll have to complain to the property management about such inconsiderate behaviour :=@ ...

Movie Time

Went with my friends to catch "Monster-in-Law" recently... Felt that this family comedy is simple but nice even though it wasn't really a blockbuster. The theatre was only half-occupied, and because of the free-sitting arrangement we had lots of alternatives on where to sit. I couldn't help laughing during the whole movie and even stamped my feet few times. Luckily there wasn't anyone sitting in front of me or else it'll really be annoying :p ...

Hoping to catch "Wedding Crashers" next...

National Day Celebration

Can't imagine that I actually woke up at 7.45 am this morning to volunteer in setting up booths for the National Day celebration in my uni... Every year as usual, members of the Singapore Student Association will celebrate the Singapore "biggest" event without fail. Since Singapore marked its 40th birthday and the theme this year is "The Future is Ours To Make", we have to basically" promote" about Singapore in terms of history, culture, food & tourism. I actually felt a little weird as I have not been involved in such activities ever since my poly days. But the overall experience was quite fun though...

*****

The lecture for Auditing this afternoon was as usual boring and the topics were so dry... I couldn't help but to fall asleep halfway through the lecture as I was really tired having to wake up early this morning. Usually I'll start doing my tutorials on the same night after lecture, but tonight my priority is to get some good sleep for sure...

*****

I'm craving for Singapore food after having the Hainanese chicken rice this afternoon... Went to eat chicken laksa for dinner at the Satay Club House, but somehow didn't sense the authenticity in it... Haha, think I'm beginning to miss Singapore food already :p ...

*****

The live web cast on the NDP website wasn't working properly due to the bandwidth issues here, so couldn't watch the live telecast of the NDP this year.... So sad :=( ...

Challenging Access!

I had decided to delete my previous post about the Microsoft Access assignment which is due next monday... Today I found out that the assignment wasn't as difficult as it was meant to be; initially I thought that the assignment requires programming which I really dislike, but later on I discovered that it mainly deals with database design only... I should complete the entire assignment by tomorrow and I'm hoping to nail it by getting at least 4.5 out of the 5%...

*****

I'm finding my new neighbour annoying as he always slam the door whenever he leaves or enters his room... Also, not only that he looks unfriendly, he doesn't even bother to say "hi" to his neighbours. No wonder he can be so inconsiderate (maybe I'm being judgemental but who cares)... Luckily he's seldom around, or else I'll have to see his "sour" face everytime we take the same lift together... :=(

The journey continues (part 5 - final section)...

I arrived in Brisbane once again this morning by SQ255 ... It has been a mixed feeling for me during the 22 days stay in Singapore. The delight would definitely be the time I spent with my KTV mates as the "KTV Ultimate 5"; having gathering with my childhood friends as well as to attend the wedding of one of them; and of course having to spend time with my family members... Things will be perfect if I didn't suffer from food poisoning and stomach upset. It happened 3 times which was so annoying especially if u are intending to taste the local authentic food...

As usual, I suffered from jet lag after arrival... I don't seem to be the kind of person who can sleep on the plane. To make things worse, a group of Korean teenagers were making so much noise and playing around in front of where I was sitting... Didn't really enjoy the meals provided by SQ though; still prefer Emirates on that. But due to the 30 kg luggage allowance, SQ became a better choice of flight this time...

Climate is an issue that I'm currently facing. It is so ironical when I needed to switch on the air-con while I was back in Singapore, and has to switch on the heater now when I'm back in my apartment. Surprisingly, both Singapore and Brisbane have been raining this whole week, except that it was warm after raining for the first and extremely cold after raining for the later. My priority right now is not to fall sick as my tutorials are starting next week...

Hopefully the final section of this journey's chapter will be fruitful and worthwhile...

Wonderful Moments!!!

Exam results are out... All the effort that I'd put in was paid off...

Here's the summary of my unit results:

Company Accounting - Credit
Management Accounting - Credit
Managing In A Changing Environment - Credit

I will be enjoying the rest of my vacation for sure...

*****

To Justin & Midori, happy birthday to the both of u... Looking forward to see both of u in this week's KTV &/or mahjong gathering. Of course not forgetting to mention hui, dingjun and all those that I have not seen for quite a long time like zijin, janet and dione. Time really flies as it has already been two years since we graduated from TP...

Family Days

Guess what? I'm now blogging in Singapore...

It's definitely good to be back home, even though I'm still adjusting to the weather... Went to visit my family doctor yesterday due to stomach upset over the last two days, whereby the doctor also agreed that it could be due to climate change since I didn't have this problem when I was in Brisbane... Well, what can you expect when the temperature is 25-31 degrees here comparing to 12-21 degrees there *-) ...

*****

Went for some shopping yesterday evening and bought two short sleeves t-shirts and a 3/4 pants from Giordano, and that costs me $59 altogether. Although it's Great Singapore Sale now, somehow it seems to me that everything is more expensive as before...

*****

Don't really know the exact reason but somewhat feel that the TV programmes over the last few days were kind of boring... I do miss gameshows like Wheel of Fortune as well as reality programmes like the Amazing Race... As for the drama series, most of them have already been shown halfway through or are about to complete, so can't actually find the significance to watch them...

*****

A group of my Singaporean friends whom I knew in Australia will be having a gathering tomorrow, so there will be lots of topics to talk about especially comparisons between Singapore and Australia. But I'm defnitely looking forward to the KTV and mahjong sessions with my "kah ki". Even though my singing now is not as good as before, the passion is still there for sure :)...

*****

Time for some coffee now. Till the next time, ciao!

Over For Now

I finally finished my last exam paper on management accounting this afternoon after a dreadful wait of 10 days (after my 2nd exam paper)... No doubt there were more time to study for this exam, I was wishing that I could get over it as soon as I could rather than having to wait that long. Therefore it was totally a relief when I stepped out of the exam hall earlier :) ...

Just extended my student visa at the immigration department yesterday. I was so glad that my new student visa was granted on the spot, as it normally takes about a week to process. But there is a price to pay of course, as I needed to spend A$772 (visa application fee $410 + medical check-up & x-ray $227 + health insurance $135) just to get a visa label on my passport... In addition, I had also paid $5,000 for my next semester rental payment at the unilodge, as well as $4,060.50 of tuition fees for next semester awaiting me to be paid. Everything is so costly indeed
:( ...

Five more days to go and I'll be back in Singapore... One thing for sure this time is that I will not need to bring back any outstanding tutorials or assignments to complete. So I'm definitely looking forward to a good break this time. Just wondering whether will I order "wan ton mee" again for breakfast in the first morning when I'm back :p ...

Breathe Easy

Finally, I'm able to blog again after all the busy weeks... Just handed in two major group assignments on tuesday and wednesday respectively. What a relief! Everything should goes well and hopefully the results for both assignments are good enough to sustain a credit for each of the subjects at the end of the semester, as I know it's going to be tough to depend on the final exams to do well...

*****

My migraine attack suddenly recurred again last week and the feeling was terrible, but luckily it was gone after two days before I even consume any pain killer... I was caught with fever yesterday and couldn't study at all. Thank goodness that the medicine for cold & flu were really effective that I became so much better after taking just one capsule. It definitely worth the price of A$10.40 that I paid for the medicine...

*****

The weather in Brisbane is getting colder now as winter is approaching... The temperature dropped to 11 degrees at 6 am this morning. I need to switch on the heater in order to keep my room warm. On the other hand, the weather in Singapore now is just the opposite, as some of my friends feedback that it is "super hot" over there... Just wonder how I will adopt to the sudden change of weather when I return in late June to spend my vacation...

But for now, it's definitely a good time to have chicken curry...

Back On Track!

Phew! The result of the MCQs' section for company accounting is out, and guess what, I managed to get 70% of the questions correct. That means together with the marks for the business response essay in section B, I should be able to get at least 20 out of 28 in total, and that is definitely a brilliant start in this subject... I did quite well for my mid-semester exam in management accounting too, which I got a proportioned percentage of 22 out of 30, and so it was indeed a double joy for me... I'm now hoping to secure at least 40% in my total coursework (out of 50%) which includes the tutorials and assignments for these two subjects, so that I won't be feeling too stressful about the final exam later...

But for those who know what I mean, just wanna say: "I'm back"!!!

*****

Would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate justin, lim wei and all those whom I know back in Singapore that had applied or already been accepted into SMU. Just wanna wish u guys all the best in commencing your studies in university, and I believed that your future is gonna be bright. But most importantly, do not forget to enjoy your life in university cos it'll only happen once in a lifetime. Cheers!

One More To Go...

It's a relief that I completed my CA exam this afternoon... I started immediately with the business response essay when the exam commenced, and I think I managed to nail it... However there were uncertainties with the multiple choice questions as I wasn't left with much time to answer the last 10 out of 40 questions, and so had to guess most of them. Hopefully I can get a pass when marks for both sections are added together...

One more exam to go for Managing Changes on next Tuesday. *Sighz*, headache!!!

Wednesday, April 13, 2005

Not Too Bad

I'm finally done with the oral presentation for Company Accounting (CA) today... didn't really nail it as my tutor commented that I had relied a little too much on reading my notes during the presentation, and for that I was being penalised slightly. Despite that I still managed to get 4.6 out of 6% which I think it's not too bad afterall...

But the real test for CA will come in this Sat mid-semester exam, which is worth 28% of the overall unit. There'll be 40 multiple choice questions (each worth 1/2 mark) plus a long essay which is worth 8 marks. Thank God that the essay topic will be posted on the Online-Learning Site tomorrow, which means that we'll be able to prepare the structure of essay in advance. Now I'm just hoping that the MCQ won't be too tricky...

Gotta' burn midnight oil again tonight...

Busy April

Exam, exam, exam

One down after yesterday and two more on the way. The both that are coming this saturday and next tuesday are "killers" subjects. Seems like I have already lost half the battle. But no, I need to get my motivation back to keep fighting... 8oI

Assignment, assignment, assignment

That's what will be happening next after my last mid-semester exam. Three reports to submit. One of them which is a group report is a "huge" one that takes up 30% of the whole unit, and 25 references are needed for citation in the report. It may sounds easy to many people but how the he** are we going to piece up a report about changing management using 25 different references is gonna be a BIG question...

*****

Just to mention here also that I was reading the blog of someone awhile ago, whereby she mentioned her dad kind of complaint that she was stingy in giving allowance for the family. But mind you, she is actually giving half of her pay (which is at least $500) every month, which I personally feel it's alot. Sometimes I just don't understand why some people are so money-minded, even to their own children. Recently an incident was reported that an elderly woman had gone to the extent of charging her two daughters rent payment if they wish to stay in her house, which partly belongs to the two daughters as well. If the dignity and virtue of a family can be determined by money, then I think life has really become meaningless...

Night Owl

I woke up at noon again today. I have somehow become a "night" person during this term break, getting to bed only at around 3 to 4 am everyday. Apparently my brain only started to become active at 12 midnight, when I'll then pick up my notes to study for my mid-semester exams that begin next week. I believed the same thing will happen again tonight, but I think I really need to adjust my sleeping hours, or else I'll be having trouble to arrive on time for classes next week...

I decided to delete the game puzzle bubble 2 from my computer. It was so annoying as I have been losing my games against the computer. Perhaps it'll better without the game so that I don't have to keep playing it...

My neighbour made "kung pow" chicken for dinner just awhile ago. I gave it a rating 8 out of 10 as I felt it wasn't spicy enough, but overall it was still good. We are planning to cook "yang chow" fried rice tomorrow...

Easter Trip

Finally went to Gold Coast with few friends yesterday, and it was quite a fantastic trip for me during this Easter break...

The first stop we went to Harbour Town, where many shops and factory outlets like Nike and Levi's are located. I somehow felt like walking around Toa Payoh Central back in Singapore, except that majority of the shops are selling clothings and you won't be able to find any "Singapore Style" coffee shop there. Got for myself two Nike T-shirts that were made in Australia, which I don't think I can get the same design back in Singapore...

Next stop we went to the Surfers Paradise. Wow! The place was indeed quite happening as many people had said as there were so many shops and mini shopping malls around that will allow you to shop the whole day if you want. Too bad my friends weren't in the shopping mood and we didn't have much time, so we headed straight to the Surfers Paradise's beach. I have to say that the beach water is so much cleaner than the east coast beach in Singapore, and it really lives up the reputation for being the city of sun and beaches...

As we made our way out from the beach, we passed by the Hard Rock Cafe. Without a second thought, I "dashed" in to the Hard Rock Cafe boutique and grabbed for myself a Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt. This is my first ever Hard Rock Cafe T-shirt and it is really valued as a collection item...

What a great day for shopping... :)

Have A Break...

Just came back from lunch and groceries shopping at the supermarket...
Seems like I always have to spend lots of money everytime I go out...

These are what I had spent on today:

Small Filet-O-Fish meal at Macdonald - $5.25/-
Groceries at Woolies - $16.75/-
International Calling Card - $9/-

That makes a total of $31.00/-

*****

There are two weekly tutorial assignments and one text reference reading awaiting me to complete, but I really like to have a break today. So looks like my coming weekend is going to be burnt...

*****

The river view from my room is awesome... It's kind of like getting to enjoy the mother nature... I really feel blessed for being able to live in such a comfy environment.

Think it's about time for me to make a cup of coffee soon.

Better chance next time...

I finally got my exam results for the summer semester yesterday... Nothing was up to my expectation...

Here's the summary of my unit results:

Financial Accounting - High Pass
Government Business Society - High Credit

*****

Went to review my exam paper for Government Business Society this morning. I was just 0.25 marks short from being round off to get a distinction. The unit coordinator told me that she couldn't give the extra marks with the fact that all the exam papers had been marked 'very' generously and my result had just fallen below the (stupid) bell curve...
To make things worse, she even advised me not to appeal for a higher grade cos there's a chance that my exam paper will get mark down by the other lecturer who is known to be tough and nasty... 8oI

Well, maybe there's a better chance next time, but who knows?

*****

Don't know what to blog now. Will update the next time.

The journey continues (part 4)...

I started my classes again today for semester 1, 2005... My 1st lecture for the day was on company accounting. I arrived on time for the lecture but did not expect that I had to sit at the extreme back row, as the front rows were all occupied. Everything started well for the lecture until the "nutty" lecturer turns the light dim halfway through, saying it was better for lecture to be conducted in thay way. That was really a stupid idea as it didn't benefit those sitting at the back at all. I lost my mood to take further notes after that as I couldn't even read what was on my lecture notes!!!

I wanted to do some cleaning after classes but the vacuum cleaner was not available again... The vacuum cleaner in Unilodge seems like a "hot" equipment as everybody is borrowing it. No wonder the managment are offering the 1/2 hour cleaning services for $20 a month to those who want their room to be cleaned by others (what a way for them to earn money!!!). Luckily my room isn't that dirty and so the cleaning can be done later.

Hopefully my luck for the vacuum cleaner will be better tomorrow.

New Accommodation

我搬家了!

Finally, I had moved to the Unilodge yesterday. The Unilodge is a non-catered university apartment which consists of individual self-contained units. Every unit is "5 in 1", which means the study area, dining area, kitchenette, bathroom and bed are all in the same room. The advantage about staying in such unit is that cleaniness is so much easier to maintain; the disadvantage however is that the room can get warm and stuffy, especially during summer because it is actually quite small in size. But I think most importantly is that the apartment is just five minutes walk from the uni, which is really convenient for students who are staying there and studying in the uni.

I believed we usually won't know how much stuff we have until when we are moving. Yesterday I spent a few trips just to shift my stuff over to the new place and to unpack them after that, which was really tiring. But thank goodness that most likely I'll be staying in this uni apartment until the end of my course.

Monday Blues :|

I was really disappointed with my performance in the financial accounting exam this morning... I started well with the first question on preparing the statement of financial performance, which I managed to finish in 45 mins and was pretty confident to get at least 20 out of 25 marks for it. But what followed after that was a disaster, as I was stuck at the second question on cash flow statement for nearly one hour, trying to reconcile the figures. In the end, I had to leave the question so as to finish the other four questions. I lost at least 8 marks (around 5% of the total coursework) for the questions/portions of questions that I left blank, and I believed more marks would be deducted for errors in the other questions... After doing some rough calculation, now I don't think I can even get a Credit (B- grade) for this unit... :(

Had lunch with my housemate at Chinatown in the afternoon. Frankly speaking I wasn't in the mood to go out at all, but because I had already promised him few days ago to have lunch at Chinatown today, I had no choice but to drag myself going... Anyway, ordered soy sauce chicken and char siew rice and while I was eating halfway thru, I suddenly recalled that I also ordered the same dishes when I was having dinner with Justin at Tampines mall food court two months ago... Oops! Better stop I told myself, before I start making comparisons again :p... After lunch, we did a bit of grocery shopping before heading back home...

I have only one week break before semester one starts again next week. But because I don't have classes on monday, I'm actually starting one day later than the rest. Probably another consolation is that I'm only having classes from tuesday to thursday each week, with three hours of lessons each day...

Hope to smash away the monday blues...

The journey continues (part 3)...

Managed to find some time to blog today after completing my first exam paper for the summer semester on Government, Business & Society this morning... The exam which started at 8.30 am, lasted for an hour (excluding 10 mins of perusal time). I believed many people in the exam hall were rushing like mad as we were required to write 300 words of analysis for each of the two newspaper articles within the one hour... I never like morning exam at all, given the fact that I'm not really a morning person. Thank God that I managed to complete the exam on time and was not affected by the "morning sickness"...

This is the first time in my life that I had celebrated Chinese New Year overseas... Had reunion dinner with few Singaporean friends at the apartment where one of them stays on the eve of Chinese New Year last week. It was like a "steamboat buffet" as my friends bought heaps of food to be cooked... Though there were events like the Lion Dance performance and market day in the Chinatown, I didn't have the time to watch due to the preparation of my exams... Anyway, I had already checked the next CNY which will fall on the 29th of January 2006, and so it's actually "not too far away" :p...

I have to stop for now as I need to get back to study for my last exam paper on Financial Accounting this coming Monday (another 8.30 am exam :( )... Not forgetting also to tell myself: "Jia You" (Add Oil) ...

Tennis Fever

Have been trying to find time to blog since few days ago, but was stuck on the TV for the Australia Tennis Open event... Anyway, this is the first time that I have the opportunities to watch live telecasts for almost all the matches in Australia, as compared to Singapore where only the semi-finals and final for the singles' matches are shown (unless you subscribed to cable TV). Some of the matches were really exciting, especially when the scores between both players kept going into deuce... Hmm, I'm actually wondering whether I should watch the actual play in Melbourne next year ;)...

Time is flying fast as my summer classes are coming to an end soon... The exams would be in mid-February and so I need to start scheduling time for revision within the next few days... My next post will likely to be sometime in late February or early March. Until then, bye for now!

A Pleasant Day

Seems like I've been blogging a lot this week, as this is already my 3rd post since tuesday... Anyway, had my supplementary exam for International Finance & Economic this morning at 8.30 am (haha, what a morning to start with ^o). It was the first time that I ever stay so calm in an exam, and having to complete all the exam questions without the need of rushing through for time. Maybe it's because I don't feel the pressure anymore after deciding to switch major, and so whatever the outcome may be, it's no longer of major concern anymore. Of course I'm still hoping for a pass as I didn't go for the exam unprepared. But most importantly, I know that I had done my best to fight this battle rather than just giving up, and so I don't think I'll have much regret about it.

Other than my supplementary exam, today seems to be a pleasant day for me... Had my lunch at the cybercity cafe again, but this time with a group of Singaporeans. Some of them are friends of mine who are also studying in Brisbane while the rest came for holiday and to visit their friends. For lunch today, I ordered the Yangzhou fried rice (oh gosh, fried rice again :p) which I nearly couldn't finish as the portion was really huge. Luckily I didn't have a heavy breakfast in the morning, and so I was able to finish the fried rice eventually... After lunch, we went for shopping at the Chinese groceries store, and as usual, we would buy few cans of luncheon meat for 99 cents per can (I guess it's one of the most economical items many Asians here will get). The gathering ended after we finished our shopping, but I think I'll be going back to shop for more stuff within the next few days ;)

For tonight, a good sleep is what I need, and hopefully with a sweet dream coming along too :)

The journey continues (part 2)...

I arrived back in Brisbane this morning after spending 18 days in Singapore... Were quite surprise with the crowd at the airport where many of them were Mainland Chinese and Japanese tourists. It took me about 1 & 1/2 hrs before I could get out of the airport...

I could only catch a couple of hours of sleep when I arrived back to my apartment, before going for an afternoon lecture on financial accounting. It was pretty tiring and even my lecturer could tell from my facial expression. But my lecturer is one of the few that I like in uni as she always make her lectures ineractive and practical as compared to lecturers of other subjects that were too theoretical and monotonous. She is even kind enough in advising me the subjects I should choose that suit my interest and career path if I'm doing accountancy major. I really thank God that I have chosen to do financial accounting now as this particular lecturer only teaches during the summer semester...

For the rest of the day after that, it was sleeping followed by eating, and what I meant was a nap followed by dinner. Had a sumptous meal with my housemate at the cybercity cafe in Chinatown, where I ordered a plate of chicken shreded fried rice. It was quite a nice way to end the day...

Well I guess that's all for now. Till the next post, ciao!

A Brighter New Year!

Wow! It has really been a long time since my last post... Anyway, I finally managed to catch up with my KTV mates (ding, hui, jus & midori) for a karaoke session last Saturday night, and it was really enjoyable even though there were only 5 of us there. Maybe we can now call ourselves the "KTV Ultimate 5", haha... After the karaoke session, we went to the Satay Club for dinner (or I should call it supper to be more appropriate) and spent around $18 per person. Though it may sound expensive, it is actually cheaper than having the same kind of food at the Satay Club House in Brisbane. We continue with our chat after the meals till 2 am the next day morning. Anyway, it was a nice moment to treasure. Like what Hui had said, the next gathering will probably be in the end of June when I return to Singapore again...

Looking back at 2004, the 2nd half of the year wasn't too good for me especially in academic performance. There have also been too much of confusion and distraction surrounding me in those period. Thus with the start of 2005, my new year resolution is to work hard in my studies and get a degree ultimately. Hopefully the decision of switching major will mark a brand new beginning for me to forget about the past failure and to stay focus in all future endeavour.

Looking forward to a brighter year!
